Gunmen have k!lled 10 people in Olegumachi community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
The attackers who invaded the community on Tuesday evening, July 9, 2024, also burnt down houses.
The chairman of the local government, Phillip Ebenyakwu, who confirmed the incident to journalists on Wednesday said that 10 people were k!lled and seven houses set ablaze.
“Yes, it’s confirmed. There was an attack. What they gave me was 10. They (gunmen) were armed with sophisticated weapons, they were looting, robbing and burning houses and k!lled people,” he said.
“About seven houses were burnt down, they went away with many properties and animals such as goats and fowls.
Ebenyakwu said he had reported the incident to the police and the Department of State Security.
