Mina Miwoe Association Celebrates its 20th Anniversary in Anloga, Volta Region


Mina Miwoe Association, Anloga Celebrates its 20th Anniversary in Anloga, Volta Region, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Anloga District Assembly Hall.

The event, which was under the theme “The Roles of Youth Associations in Societal Development” was Chaired by a renowned businessman, Mr. Destiny Thompson Teku, with Torgbi Tudoabor III as the Guest of Honour and Lawyer Ivan Tsidi Aklorbortu as the Guest Speaker.

Mina Miwoe Association, Anloga, is a not-for-profit Organization formed in 2005 to show love and care for humanity and to instill the spirit of giving freely to the poor and the vulnerable in and around the Anloga District, Keta Municipal and the Volta Region as a whole.

The group, which is largely made up of Traders and Business owners has over the years lived up to their mandates by donating to the poor and vulnerable people and Communities in and around the Anloga District and the Keta Municipal of the Volta Region.

In his presentation, the Guest Speaker, Lawyer Ivan Tsidi Aklorbortu spoke on three major areas: Education Intervention, Social Intervention and Health Intervention. And tasked the group to educate and train the young and upcoming traders and business owners to be equipped with necessary skills in order to be very useful to their societies.

Lawyer Aklorbortu also called on the members of the Association to work “hand-in-hand” with Narcotics Control Commission of Ghana and other relevant Authorities to educate the youth to stop using hard drugs and banned substances.

On his part, the Guest of Honour, Torgbi Tudoabor III of Anloga, re-emphasized the use of hard drugs among the youth. And encouraged the Association to create time to meet with the Chiefs and Queens of Anlo in order to involve them in their development activities and share their ideas with them.

Torgbi further pledged his unflinching support to the Association and commended the good works that they have being doing for their communities over the years.

The Keta Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority, Mr. Francis Susuawu also expressed his concern about youth unemployment and the use of hard drugs that have become very common among the youth today. And assured the audience of their effort to use youth apprenticeship programmes to help curb the unemployment situations.

In his closing remarks, the distinguished Businessman and the Chairman for the event, Mr. Destiny Thompson Teku commended the group for the great works that they are doing. He encouraged them that achieving greater things is not always in numbers but the level of commitment of the members.

Mr. Teku further requested from the Presiding Member of the Anloga District Assembly, Mr. Joseph Kpatah to help secure a piece of land at "Shime" junction so that with their supports and mobilization, they can put up a modern Bus stop facility for the people in that area.

The event was able to raise almost Ghs11,000 in support of the Association. And the PRO/ Convenor of the group Mr. John Yao Agbetsiafa speaking to OneForumNews1 Accra expressed his appreciation to all the people that honoured their invitation.

He further stated that the Volta region should expect more from them in the days to come. But was quick to add that they can’t do it alone and need supports and donations from any interested people and groups.

Representatives from the Alakple Management Council were also present and made donations and solidarity message from the Chiefs, Queens and good People of Alakple. Dr. Senanu of UK also sent his representative and donations. 

The event was graced by the former DCE of Anloga District Assembly, Hon. Seth Yormewu, a Businesswoman, Madam Vida Sowa Ahiati, Mr. Jusper Mide, Mr. Joseph Kpatah, PM of Anloga District Assembly, Rev. Franklin Amaglo, Rev. Moses Abotsi, Mr. Philip Bokorga, the NADMO Coordinator of Anloga Disrict, Madam Charity Abiwu, Madam Ever Sarpong and other distinguished Dignitaries.
