Lagos State has directed philanthropists, individuals, as well as organisations, to register with the State safety agencies when organizing an event that will attract more than 250 guests during and after the festive season, after scores of people were killed in several stampedes at charity events.
In the week before Christmas, more than 30 people, mostly children were killed in Ibadan, and after that about 22 also died in Anambra State, while another 10 people died at a church event later.
