The Chiefs and people of Whuti celebrated their yearly Tortroyeye festival in Whuti in the Anloga District of the Volta Region of Ghana.
This year’s celebration that took place on Sunday, November 3, 2024, is under the theme “Leveraging on the present for more sustainable development”. And it was under the leadership of Torgbi Nyaho Tamakloe VI, the Miafiaga of Anlo and Chaired by Dr. Vickie Casanova-Willis and deputised by Mr. Samuel Akumekpa.
Torgbi Nyaho Tamakloe VI and other ChiefsTortroyeye festival is celebrated every first Sunday in November to bring the Chiefs and people of Whuti together and to raise funds for their developmental projects.
The second diaspora edition brought home dignitaries and friends from all over the world, including United States of America and Canada. And a newly built community toilet facility was commissioned by Torgbi Nyaho Tamakloe VI and other dignitaries who contributed towards the building.
In his address, Torgbi Nyaho Tamakloe VI acknowledged the contributions of all towards the building and called for unity among his people for more development.
He also welcomed the dignitaries home. And there was “local naming ceremony” for some of the diaspora dignitaries and certificates awarded as a sign of citizenship of Whuti.
Hon. Reverend Coy Pugh (Chief Morkporkpor I) also donated 10 laptops to the Whuti community through a fan packed competition that was won by 10 people.
The celebration was graced by Torgbi Agbeve III Dufia of Dzato, Torgbi Gamor II Dufia of Anyanuie, Mama Kordeku of Sroegbey, Hon. Reverend Coy Pugh (Chief Morkporkpor I), Hon. Senator Hunter, Mr. Joseph Harrinton, Rev. Albert Sampson, Mrs. Tawana McCallum, Mr. Reinard McCallum, Hon. Gameli Amaglo (Assemblyman), the citizens of Whuti home and abroad, among others.
Two talented young artist, Edzorna Dunya and Edem Makumator also made some creative drawing that was donated to the chairperson.
