Five people have died while 13 have been injured in a crash at Mgwenyane location in Libode in the Eastern Cape.
It is alleged that a minibus taxi they were travelling in overturned on a Gravel road.
Provincial Transport Spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the fully-loaded vehicle was driving from Mthatha heading to kwaMajola village when the driver lost control and overturned.
He says, “Yes we can confirm the death of five people in this accident, the youngest was only two months old and the eldest was a elderly woman in her 70s. It was a very unfortunate accident which happens so close to the village they were going because the brakes gave in. The MEC for Transport Xolile Nqatha is extending sincere words to the families and wishes the injured people a speedy recovery.”
