In every competition, is either you win or make a name for yourself. That is why the management, staff and old students of Anlo Senior High School must rise and fight for the name of ANSECO. Not only sitting in their comfort zones hoping that petitions to the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) will work.
The controversy surrounding the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) contest involving Anlo Senior High School (ANSECO) has raised serious questions about fairness, transparency and the credibility of one of Ghana's most respected but controversial academic competitions.
Factual reports circulating after the contest indicate that Anlo Senior High School (ANSECO) and Kumasi High School (KUHIS) withdrew their contestants from the stage amid allegations of unfair treatment and claims that St. Augustine's College (AUGUSCO) was being favoured.
That was exactly what happened before the eyes of many. And management and old students must not let the gallant participants down by accepting the unfair treatment displayed during the contest. This is the time for ANSECO to make a "Statement" for all to see that the school is truly "the Star of Anlo Land".
For a competition whose stated purpose is to promote science, mathematics, critical thinking and healthy academic rivalry, such allegations cannot simply be dismissed as the emotions of disappointed contestants.

Anlo Senior High School has a long history of academic achievements and is a public second-cycle institution based in Anloga in the Volta Region of Ghana. Its motto, “Truth and Service,” rightly places the school to challenge anything it considers unjust like the one in context.
If the school genuinely believes that decisions by the organizers affected the outcome of the contest, it has every reason to demand a comprehensive explanation and further legal actions.
The issue is not merely whether ANSECO won or lost. The bigger question is whether all participating schools were subjected to exactly the same rules and standards.
If one school is treated differently from another, the credibility of the entire competition becomes questionable. Hence, the need for ANSECO to call on numerous great lawyers the school produced over the years to seek justice for them. Not leave it to few executives of the Old Students Association who may not have the requisite legal knowledge to push their case through.
Why legal action may be necessary?
As it stands now, ANSECO possesses evidence demonstrating inconsistent application of the rules, wrongful allocation or withholding of marks, procedural irregularities, or discriminatory treatment, so the school should not be afraid to seek legal redress.
A lawsuit would not necessarily be about money. It could be about accountability, institutional reputation and the protection of the integrity of academic competitions.
