Seasonal floods have compounded the misery of the Sudanese people in weeks, leaving dozens dead and critical infrastructure washed away in 12 of the country's 18 provinces. Tens of thousands have been displaced, according to the UN migration agency.
And now the government has declared a cholera outbreak after the disease killed 22 people because "drinking water has been contaminated," Health Minister Haitham Ibrahim said.
Fighting broke out in 2023 between rival factions of the miliatry government that was installed following the ouster of longtime dictator Omar Bashir. Tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions displaced.
