For the first time in many years, one
of the industrious Chiefs in Anlo States, in the Volta region, Torgbi Tenge
Dzokoto Gligui VII, has donated a Renal Dialysis Unit to the Keta Municipal
Hospital. And the inauguration took place on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
In his inaugural speech, Torgbi
stated that the new Renal Dialysis Unit is more than just a physical space.
For, “it is a place where compassion meets action, where hope is tangible, and
where we come together to affirm that no one should have to endure such
hardships alone”.

He further said the new Renal Unit
stands as a powerful testament that every life is invaluable and it is their
collective responsibility to ensure that no one suffers due to lack of
resources or support.
Speaking to the media after the ceremony, when he was asked about the total cost of the donations, Torgbi calmly declined to mention the amount. And only stated that it is a donation and if one is giving something out, there is no need to mention the cost because it is a gift to the hospital and the good people of the Anlo States.
Torgbi also expressed his gratitude to his wife and children, Chiefs, Queens, the hospital staff and the good people of Anlo.
On his part, the Medical
Superintendent of the Keta Municipal Hospital, Dr. Kofi Karikari Bonsu has
expressed his gratitude to Torgbi for his firm commitment to improving
healthcare in the community. And stated that the vision of Keta Municipal
Hospital is to become the preferred healthcare provider in the Southern Volta
and beyond.
And the establishment of the new
Renal Dialysis Unit is a significant step towards achieving this vision. Also, it
is a proof of their commitment to providing comprehensive, accessible and high
quality healthcare services to the people who need them.
Dr. Bonsu further appealed for a CT
Scan Machine because their people are also dying from CVA, such as stroke due
to delay in management.
The modern equipment that Torgbi
donated were received with joy and praises from the indigenes from home and
abroad who hardly received donations like this from their Chiefs.
Keta Municipal hospital, which
serves as the only hospital rendering services for many communities in the Keta
Municipality and Anloga District has over the years been neglected and lacks
some basic medical equipment. Until recently, the MTN Ghana donated a Maternal
and Child health block to the hospital.
Some citizens on the sideline with
excitement reacted that if all Chiefs can make donations like this to the
medical facilities and schools in the 36 States of Anlo, the little that any
government will do will be sufficient for better healthcare delivery and better
schools in the Anlo and its environs.
