Torgbi Korkudjaah Tamakloe II Aims to make “Tagbato Kete Festival” a Ketu South Festival


Torgbi Korkudjaah Tamakloe II, Dufia of Kpordorve, the Chiefs and people of the Tagbato Electoral Area in the Ketu South Municipal of the Volta Region celebrated this year’s “Tagbato Kete festival”. 

And according to Torgbi, his main aim is to make the festival a Ketu South one. Whereby during the festival, weavers and traders from the entire Ketu South Municipal will be given the opportunity to exhibit and market their Kete products.

This is to create an annual opportunity to the people in these communities to market their talents and products to potential investors and tourists from all over the world.

Torgbi passionately stated the need for the weavers to improve their crafts with colourful designs and yarns that will be appealing to people from all over the world. And it is his hope that through their collective efforts, Kete factories will be built and value will be added to the woven fabrics by making other products from them.


Tagbato Electoral area comprises of Kpordorve, Akagla Korpe and Tsavanya all located near Klikor and Agbozume in the Volta Region of Ghana. Their main occupations are Kete weaving, farming, fishing, salt mining, trading, among others.

Kete, which is an ancient craft carefully woven in a loom with yarns carried by shuttles and rhythmically interlaced, is highly revered and celebrated by people from all tribes, cultures and races. And as one of the pioneers, in order to immortalize this and to make more economic gains for the people, the “Tagbato Kete Festival” was instituted some years ago.


This annual festival is celebrated to boost the economic viability of this beautiful craft and to create more investment and employment opportunities for the people of Tagbato Electoral area.

Also, to bring the people together and to foster unity among the Chiefs and people for progress and development.

This year’s celebration took place at Kpordorve in the Ketu South Municipal of the Volta region. And was organized and hosted by Torgbi Korkudjaah Tamakloe II, the Dufia of Kpordorve, who is a very accomplished and outstanding academician and an Energy expert.


In his speech, Torgbi called for unity among his people and emphasized that the greatest ingredient for development is to eschew backbiting and sabotage. And collectively put their efforts together to make the Tagbato Electoral Area economically better for their people.

He also stated that, bringing investors and Non-Governmental Organizations to support the people is not for the benefit or credit to any particular Chief or individual. Rather, for the collective interest and progress of the people and the entire communities of the Tagbato Electoral area.

There was massive display of rich tradition and culture as well as very colourful and adorable Kete fabrics woven and packaged in Kpordorve, Akagla Korpe, Tsavanya, among others.

And anyone interested in trading in Kete or investing in it, the right place to be is Tagbato Electoral Area. Which is made up of Kpordorve, Akagla Korpe and Tsavanya in the Ketu South Municipal of the Volta Region of Ghana.

The festival was chaired by Madam Christine Gbeze and graced by Torgbi Emese II, Torgbi Akagla II, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, Mr. David Kugbe (Assemblyman) and other prominent Chiefs, Queens and citizens of Tagbato Electoral Area from home and abroad.
