Men of the Joint Security Task Force in Nigeria have killed 20 terrorists and rescued five kidnapped victims during a clearance operation in Gaskiya Bana, a border village between Niger and Kaduna States. This took place on December 1, 2022.
The terrorists were said to be working for a notorious leader, Alhaji Leyi who has his operational base at Gaskiya Bana. Niger state Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Umar confirmed the incident in a statement and said the kidnapped victims were in the custody of the terrorists for over a month.
The rescued victims are: Yakubu Ayuba, Susan Sunday, Patience Sunday, Lazarus John, and Bulus Yahaya. They have been debriefed and since reunited with their families after medical examination. Also recovered were over 300 cattle and they are handed over to the State Government for onward process of delivery to their owners.
The Governor of the state, Abubakar Sani Bello, salutes the courage of the security forces. And reassures them and residents in Niger State that he is determined to keep supporting the security agencies and the people to ensure peace and safety in the troubled communities.
