Pitbull dogs are becoming a national security issue as they are killing children in South Africa. In the latest incident, the police spokesperson, Brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana said as the boy and the dog were playing, a passer-by who was also walking with a dog in the proximity of the yard, was seen by the Pitbull.
It is further alleged that the Pitbull attempted to get out of the yard whilst barking at the passing dog. After failing to leave the yard, the Pitbull is alleged to have returned to the child and bit him in the upper body.
Subsequent to the incident, the Paramedics were called to transport the child to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to have succumbed to injuries sustained.
Police have since registered an inquest for investigation. The incident has also been reported to the SPCA as police investigation continues.
Most recently, ten-year-old Storm Nuku from Gqeberha, eight-year-old Olebogeng Mosime and three-year-old Keketso Saule were also mauled to death by the vicious and aggressive dogs in South Africa. And a group of angry neighbours killed and burnt two pitbull dogs for attacking a child.
In a related development, the EFF party led by Julius Malema called for a total ban of Pitbull dogs in the country.
