Torgbiga Wenya III Presides Over Grand Coronation of Torgbiga Addo IX of Klikor

Torgbiga Wenya III, Dutor of Anlo and Head of the Royal Loafe Clan of Anlo, has presided over the grand coronation of Torgbiga Addo IX as the new Fiaga and Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.

The historic ceremony took place on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Klikor, following the successful burial of his predecessor, Torgbiga Addo VIII, on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The funeral attracted several prominent personalities, including the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Julius Debrah, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, alongside their respective entourages.

The coronation marked the climax of a series of traditional rituals and rites that had commenced several months earlier as part of the customary processes of installing the new paramount chief.

The final stage, which involved the official outdooring and coronation of Torgbiga Addo IX, was led by Torgbiga Wenya III in his capacity as Dutor of Anlo and Head of the Royal Loafe Clan.

Addressing the gathering, Torgbiga Wenya III emphasised the importance of respecting established traditional processes in the selection and installation of chiefs.

He reiterated that, historically, chiefs were selected and installed by their respective clans and families, rather than by individuals from unrelated clans. He further maintained that the Constitution of Ghana and the relevant provisions of the Chieftaincy Act support the observance of lawful and established customary procedures in chieftaincy matters.

Torgbiga Wenya III urged the newly installed paramount chief to prioritise unity within the Loafe Clan and among the people of Klikor.

He also called on Torgbiga Addo IX to recognise Klikor's important place within the Anlo Kingdom and to continue the legacy of service and leadership established by his predecessor.

Torgbiga Addo IX brings considerable professional and academic experience to his new traditional leadership role.

A retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), he holds a PhD in Music and previously served as Director of Bands of the Ghana Police Service.

Throughout his career, he distinguished himself by contributing to the development of music within the security services, combining academic scholarship, creative innovation and international public service.

His elevation to the paramountcy of Klikor is expected to bring his wealth of professional experience and leadership skills to bear on the development of the traditional area.

The coronation ceremony also featured the outdooring of several distinguished personalities from Ghana and abroad who have been honoured with traditional titles as development chiefs and queens. A sub-divisional chief was also outdoored during the occasion.

The personalities included Torgbi Kuda II, Mama Woshime II, Mama Setor Amewoezoemor II, Mama Afeafa II and the Dufia of Dodorkorpe, Torgbi Aglah III.

Their recognition reflects the traditional area's efforts to honour individuals whose positions and contributions are considered important to its cultural heritage and development aspirations.

The occasion attracted a distinguished gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders and other dignitaries from Ghana and beyond.

Among those present were the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Torgbi Nyaho Tamakloe VI, Miafiaga of Anlo, the Paramount Chief of the Kome-Shime Traditional Area, and the Head of the Adzorvia Clan of Anlo.

Also in attendance were chiefs and queens from the Klikor Traditional Area, traditional rulers from other parts of Ghana, and dignitaries from various countries.

Their presence underscored the significance of the coronation and its importance to the people of Klikor, the wider Anlo traditional area and the Ghanaian chieftaincy institution.

OneForumNews1-Accra congratulates Torgbiga Addo IX and all the newly coronated chiefs and queens, wishing them wisdom, strength and success as they assume their respective traditional responsibilities.
