The Royal Adzorvia Awormezi Council and the Royal Adzorvia Clan have backed call by Torgbiga Wenya III, Dutor of Anlo and the Loafe Clan Council of Elders to withdraw Customary Authority from Torgbi Sri III.
This was communicated in a press statement in which they cited reasons such as his inability to perform his duties due to old age and sickness, numerous Chieftaincy disputes under his watch, unlawfully elevating some Chiefs to Paramount Chiefs status, alleged corruption, among others.
In a statement dated October 7, 2026, and signed on behalf of the Council’s Secretary by Mac Quarcoo Connel-Akummey, the Principal Elders of the Royal Adzorvia Clan and the Royal Adzorvia Awormezi Council said they support the call by Torgbiga Wenya III, Dutor of Anlo and the Loafe Clan Council of Elders to withdraw Customary Authority from Torgbi Sri III.
The statement also questioned the legitimacy of Torgbi Sri III by making reference to a High Court ruling in Ho in their favour some years ago.
In the statement, the council stated categorically that there is nothing like the “Supreme Council of Royal Adzorvia Clan headed by Torgbi Sri III and his cohorts as claimed by one Chris A-Ackummey.
Some of their allegations leveled against Torgbi Sri III based on which they backed the withdrawal of the Customary Authority are:
1. His inability to perform his duties as a result of old age and sickness, making his handlers to mislead him.
2. Numerous Chieftaincy disputes and other challenges confronting the Anlo Kingdom under the watch of Torgbi Sri III.
3. An alleged collection of money from some Chiefs to elevate them to Paramount Chiefs without recourse to the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759).
4. A recruitment scandal involving some Chiefs under his watch.
5. Alleged forgery of documents to legitimise him, which they have reported to the President of the Volta Regional house of Chiefs. And the matter subsequently referred to the security agencies for investigation.
6. The council also alleged that Sri III became known as Torgbi Sri III without going through what it described as the laid-down customary processes.
The Council further questioned, if Sri III was properly installed and legitimate, why is it that he had never visited the Yorhoenu House, Tomi and Agbogbome Shrines? Which it described as sources of Awormefia’s divine guidance in ruling the people of Anlo.
The statement warned that disagreements and divisions among Chiefs are threatening the dignity and unity of the Anlo Kingdom. And the need for Torgbiga Wenya III, Dutor of Anlo and the Loafe Clan Council of Elders to withdraw Customary Authority from Torgbi Sri III.
According to the Council, such a move would help to “sanitise” the Anlo Kingdom and restore it to what it considers the proper path under the legitimate Adzorvia Clan.
