Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has died in a helicopter crash in the Marondera area, southeast of Harare. A family spokesperson, Herbert Chivayo, confirmed the death of the businessman and his wife, Lucy Muteke.
Zimbabwean police said the helicopter had six occupants. Chivayo was the founder and managing director of Intratrek Zimbabwe, an energy and infrastructure company involved in projects including the Gwanda solar project.
He was a prominent figure in Zimbabwean business and was also known for his philanthropic activities. Authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations into the crash continue.
