Awadada Agbesi Awusu II who is the 14th Awadada of Anlo and the occupant of the Kaklaku Stool celebrated 25 years of his reign on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Anloga in the Volta Region of Ghana.
The War lord of Anlo, the Vice President of the Anlo Traditional Council (Anlo Dukor) and from the Agave Clan was installed on September 18, 2000, on the Kaklaku stool.
OneForumNews1-Accra's searches revealed that the Kaklaku stool is accompanied by the "Adzoyi", which is a sword and "Dzengba", a special headgear made with special feathers worn by the Awadada during installation and some special occasions, (Ameevor, 1994).
The Agave clan founded by Aga, Agor, Agorglormor, Agortenu, Gbetsi Anaga and Egbo, has some Deities that are inseparable from the Kaklaku stool. These include "Nanabukuyeke", "Ade", among others.
Oral literature, which was confirmed by the late Madam Beauty Axornam Banini has it that, the appellation for "Nanabukuyeke" is, "Nanabukuyeke!! Nepuito mevia ahali o, ahali viegbea aviedi". She further stated, members of the Clan, specifically, Anlo Agaveawo though are permitted to eat a cashew nut, they are forbidden to use the tree for firewood. They also do not eat salt which is spilt on the ground and are forbidden to use "Xeti" for firewood.
Madam Banini emphatically added, they do not eat salt from "wegba" or the black soup bowl.
OneForumNews1-Accra, can confidently state that, the Agave Clan that is the custodian of the Kaklaku stool, is one of the 15 Clans of Anlo in the Volta Region of Ghana. And apart from the Awadada, the Clan has many other great Chiefs including Torgbi Zewu IV, Torgbi Subo II, Torgbi Adelashi Kotor III, among others. And by their structure, Torgbi Zewu IV, the Dufia of Anloga, is the "Agbotadua" to the Awadada. That is second in command when it comes to the Kaklaku stool.
Further, the profile of Awadada Agbesi Awusu II, revealed that, for 25 years, he has served his people as a traditional leader, a custodian of culture, and an advocate for peace and development. He serves as the Vice President of the Anlo Traditional Council, a member of the Judicial Committees of both the Anlo Traditional Council and the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and contributed to education through the Anlo Educational Trust Fund.
In 2021, Awadada was honoured with the Global Humanitarian Award by the World Humanitarian Drive during the Trilateral Global Summit. A recognition that reaffirmed his belief in service to humanity.
Awadada had his early life and education in Nigeria and Ghana. He graduated from the University of Ghana in 1987, with a Degree in Political Science and Sociology. He later diverted into Shipping and Freight forwarding and established EDA Express Service Ltd in Accra in 1987.
In 1998, he relocated with his family to the United States of America where he founded Elite International Shipping Company LLC in New Jersey. Awadada further, in developing his professional abilities, undertook trainings in the USA, Canada and Ghana in Freight forwarding, Shipping management and Customs Administration.
As Awadada marks the climax of his 25th anniversary today, Saturday, October 4, 2025, guests and well-wishers from all walks of life gathered at the Hogbe Park, Anloga to celebrate with him.
The Managing Director of Senyo Traditional TV, Mr. John Yao Agbetsiafa reported that the ceremony was Chaired by Hon. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, member of Council of State, the Guest of Honour, Torgbi Sri III, the Awoamefia of Anlo, the Guest speaker was Hon. Dan Abodakpi and other distinguished Guests including Dr. Nyaho-Nyaho Tamekloe.
The Theme for the anniversary is "Preserving the past, shaping the future, celebrating 25 years of leadership, culture and unity".
