Man Demolishes Home After Wife Files for Divorce

A man in anguish flattened down his three-bedroom home costing $85,000 after his wife filed for a divorce. The destruction apparently was legal because he first went through the legal process of taking demolition permit before carrying out the action on Sunday, October 23, 2022.

The man by name, Raymond Kree Kirkman when confronted showed the police the demolition permit he had picked up for $11.50 fee. According to the police, “there were no restraining orders from the divorce proceedings. So the property was communal and there was nothing restraining him from demolition it.″

The house and its contents were valued at $85,000 two years ago when the house was built, said the man’s estranged wife, Sandy, 26. Sandy was out of town Saturday when a neighbor called her and told her that her husband was destroying the house with a piece of heavy machinery. She said she thought the neighbor meant a sledgehammer or other hand tools.

The couple has been separated since last summer and Ms. Sandy Kirkman had been living in the house with her three children. She filed for divorce last Monday. She said, ″I told him I wanted to keep the house, I guess he didn’t want me to have anything″. ″It took him just 15 minutes to destroy everything”.

In a related development, according to a police Detective Bill Kisbye, Kirkman was jailed Sunday for further investigations of an assault on a television camera crew that went to film the wreckage.

A KOMO-TV reporter and photographer were interviewing neighbors in the street when they were attacked by a man who screamed obscenities and knocked a camera from a tripod, said Corinne Waterbury, a KOMO-TV producer.

Kirkman will remain in jail until a bail hearing on Tuesday, despite there were no injuries in the assault.
