Ghana's Appeal Court Acquits Sedona Tamakloe Attionu

In Ghana, the Court of Appeal has Acquitted and discharged former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, overturning her earlier 10-year prison sentence.

In its ruling, the appellate court held that the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, setting aside the conviction and sentence imposed by the High Court.

Attionu had previously been convicted on charges related to the loss of public funds during her tenure as MASLOC CEO and was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.

However, the Court of Appeal found that the evidence presented by the prosecution was insufficient to sustain the conviction, resulting in her acquittal and discharged.
