The industrious Chiefs, Queens and people of Alakple, in the Anloga District of the Volta Region celebrated their distinct Easter Festival in Alakple over the weekend, Saturday, April 19, 2025.
The festival which was under the theme “Unity: The Key to Sustainable Development and Progress of Alakple” and presided over by Torgbi Amey Zegu II, Dufia of Alakple and the Head of Amey Clan of Anlo and Mama Nyiawovape I, successfully raised more than Ghs80,000 for their developmental projects.
This year’s celebration was Chaired by Madam Juliana Ama Kplorfia and the Special Guest of honour was Togbe Koku Dzaga XI, the Paramount Chief of Klepe Traditional area.
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, spoke on behalf of the Government representatives present, including Mr. Alex Segbefia, the Chief of Staff at the office of the Vice President and the DCE of Anloga District, Hon. Sandra Kpedor.
The Minister expressed his praise for the good works that the Chiefs, Queens and people of Alakple are doing. And promised to help with the construction of the Kome-Alakple road and the building of a CHPS Compound for the people. They together donated Ghs17,000 to support the festival.
Torgbi Amey Zegu II, in his address stated that they are ready for investment in Alakple from all quarters, particularly investment into the hospitality industry. As Alakple and its immediate neighbours are very conducive and serene for relaxation and rejuvenation for holidays’ travelers.
Torgbi further assured potential investors of the readiness of the Chiefs, Queens and Elders to monitor any business of the investors and ensure that they are safe and successful.
The Special Guest of Honour, Togbe Koku Dzaga XI calls for unity and stated that, “unity remains the bed rock of any society. And is the unity that fosters peace, builds trust, encourages cooperation and creates a sense of shared purpose”. He therefore, urged the people not to take the peace they are enjoying for granted.
On his part, the Guest Speaker, Dr. Senanu Dzokoto, the Deputy CEO of National Health Insurance Scheme also spoke on the current trend of excessive drug abuse by the youth. And cautioned them to abstain from it and do something productive and beneficial with their lives.
Mina Miwoe Association Anloga, the not-for-profit group that donated a bus stop to the people of Kome-Alakple were present at the festival. And their Convenor Mr. John Yao Agbetsiafa in his speech also praised the great works by the people of Alakple. And stated that Alakple is a shining star for others to emulate that is why they are ready to support and be associated with them.
The Alakple Easter festival is an annual festival of the people of Alakple who are trailblazers when it comes to planning and organising successful festivals and raising of funds and perfectly accounting for them, in and around Anlo State and the Volta Region as a whole.

There was a great display of tradition and culture, drumming and dancing that reflect the way of life of the people of Alakple in particular and the Anlos in general.
Present at the ceremony were dignitaries from all walks of life and home and abroad.
