UN Urges Unity as 114 Million People Flee in 'Crisis of Humanity'

The Global Refugee Forum attended by various stakeholders, including states, NGOs, and refugee advocates in Geneva, highlights the crisis of humanity with a record 114 million forcibly displaced people worldwide.

Filippo Grandi, the UNHCR chief, said the urgent need to address the root causes of displacement, citing ongoing crises in places like DR Congo, Myanmar, Syria and Afghanistan. Despite progress and collaborative efforts, there is a shortfall of U.S.$400 million in UNHCR's fundraising goal, raising concerns for the year ahead.

Uganda is currently hosting more than 1.5 million refugees, the largest refugee population in Africa.
