In Ghana, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected the sitting Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its new leader and flagbearer for the 2024 presidential elections.
He emerged victorious with 61.47% of the 204,144 who voted in the NPP primaries, securing the party's nomination for the race to the presidency. He defeated Mr. Kennedy Agyapong who gave him a run for his money and got 37.41%.
Bawumia will now have to contest against the NDC’s Mr. John Mahama who was also a former President of the republic. And for the first time, both the flagbearers of the two major political parties are from the Northern part of the Country Ghana.
And their choices of a running mate and their achievements will play leading roles in determining which of them wins to become the president of the republic of Ghana.
