A legal luminary and a Justice at the Supreme Court of Ghana, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has been confirmed by the parliament of Ghana as the new Chief Justice.
She was nominated by President Akuffo Addo some weeks ago to replace Justice Kwesi Anin-Yeboah who is due for retirement.
Justice Gertrude Torkornoo is the third female Justice that Ghana will have, and she is likely to serve for many years because of her current age of 60 years.
This is a very big win for gender balance in the structures of governance and leadership in Ghana, though more needed to be done.
We at OneForumNews1 wish to congratulate her and wish her all the best in her new role.
